I received a holiday card and enclosed was a story about a girl and her horse. The following is an excerpt. If you like the story entire story be sure to book mark it so others can find it too.

I’d like to tell you a story about an extraordinary horse that never got the credit he deserved. His registered name was On Time 70; we just called him “Time”. The tears still come every time I think about my old friend. He came into my life when I was a 13 year-old horse crazy girl and he was a 4 year old, just finished with a year and a half of basic training but with loads of talent. I lost him 17 years later in 1991. After all those years and all the horses I’ve raised since, he’s still the best horse I ever owned.

In the spring of 1974, I was attending my second barrel racing clinic conducted by Carolyn Degnan. I had a smart little, Morgan Welsh cross, pony that had taught me lots and we’d had a little success competing at Little Britches rodeos. LONDON - Babies born by Caesarean section are more likely to develop asthma than children delivered naturally, Swiss researchers said on Tuesday.

Although conflicting evidence on the link between asthma and C-sections exist.

Asthma researchers said the number of children involved in the asthma study and a long monitoring period strengthened their results.

The potential risks of elective C-sections as more women in Western countries choose to avoid a natural birth, the researchers said in the medical journal, Thorax."

Cheer Fund Raising Goal

Our cheer fund raising goal is to have the first 25 Pampered Chef fund raiser tickets sold by November 21st with ALL monies turned into either me or Evelyn. Each family will be given a second set of 25 pop warner cheer tickets to be sold at the same prices. If you sell your pop warner cheer fund raiser tickets early and want to get a head start selling the second set of 25, just let me know.

Cheer Fund Raiser Deadline

These tickets need to be sold by Friday, December 19th, all monies turned in and we will have the drawing that night. I also wanted to give you heads up to our Fundraiser on Saturday, November 15th. I need each and everyone of you to help me with this. I am picking up the pieces to this fundraiser and I need your help to make it successful. I have opened up my home for a "Neighborhood Shopping Spree" to be held from 10am to 5pm. As far as I know, the following vendors will be showing up at my door:

It is my understanding that we are to receive 15% of each vendors total sales for that day. Sabrina has offered to make signs to be placed around my neighborhood. I have advertised in a local realtor's monthly newsletter that is mailed out as well as placed on his website. What I need from you, is to spread the word all around. If you have e-mail addresses to the other cheer squads and can forward the information to them, that would be wonderful. Come over Saturday and bring friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc. I will also be selling tickets for our Pampered Chef raffle on Saturday as well as taking donations from shoppers who would like to make a donation for our teams travel expenses.

That's it for now. We are looking into having a car wash (weather permitting) and a yard sale so please start gathering your items and asking for yard sale donations. Items must be clean, sellable items. Thank you for your time and support of our girls cheer squad.

Hello everyone,

Remember practice is held at Edison Park Recreation Center in Huntington Beach on Magnolia Street where we held cheerleading practice this week.

The girls will be competing on Saturday, February 6, 2009. Everyone needs to be in Las Vegas by Friday morning at The Orleans, Orleans Arena,. We will have a practice Friday afternoon. Hello everyone,

Evelyn asked that I send this email on her behalf. Tomorrow the team needs to meet at OCC, front gate, at 5:30 p.m. Bring blankets so that we can save seats for the entire Jr. Pee Wee team.

All practices for cheerleading are going to be at Edison Park Recreation Center where we held practice this week since there are no football teams still in competition.

WOW... PROUD TO BE A CHARGER!!!!

What an amazing day for our Huntington Beach Cheer girls. All their cheer practice has paid off with 1st place at OEC Cheer Competition and they are moving on to Regional Cheer Championships at the Long Beach Arena on November 23rd. There is work still to be done so I will see you all on Tuesday.

I would like to thank Football Coach John Seibel, all the parents and Jr Pee Wee Green Football Players for the treats, Toilet Papering the girls homes and coming out to support the girls at cheerleading competition. Boys you were great in cheering on the girls.

Every year for Competition we are kindly invited by Coach Tamara from our Big Sisters, Jr. Midget Gold, to ride in a limo. This year instead of a limo, we are going to competition in a DOUBLE DECKER 60 - passenger Bus.

Orleans Arena Review Las Vegas locals and visitors agree that the Orleans Arena's amenities are unbeatable. annual pep rally in preparation for the OEC Cheer Competition to be held this Sunday at the Long Beach Arena. Our cheerleaders have worked hard all season to perfect their routines. Please give our cheer program your support. The program will begin at 7:15 PM.

Pop warner HB has been led by Paul Loflin who's leadership or HB pop Warner association has never been more successful. Some notable accomplishments:

 Growth of football and cheer programs
 Implementation of the Dave White Football Camp
 Addition of the Challenger program
 Improvements to our shed

Huntington Beach Cheer Uniforms and Movie Night

Hello Parents,

The cheerleader bows have been placed in your daughter's bag. Cheerleader's are responsible to come ready in uniform for each game with the color of bow that the coaches choose. If a bow is lost or misplaced, please replace immediately. More bows will be added to their collection once they arrive.

There is a flyer for Movie Night next weekend with the football players and an order form for picture day for this Sunday, 09/21/08, placed with your daughter's green folder.

since it's so early meet at the field by 7:30 am

CHEER ATTIRE:

· Cheer uniform - please insure that no straps are showing at anytime. (Sports Bras are a good investment)
· Please use Yellow Bow with poka dots
· White no show socks only
· White cheer shoes
· Hair pinned back in a high pony tail (no hair in the face please)
· No jewelry of any kind (earrings, necklace, bracelets, rings, etc...) If earrings can not come out make sure they are taped or use small band aids.
· No long nails
· No nail polish
· Please put sunscreen on your daughter before going to the field on Saturday.
· Please make sure your cheerleader is hydrated before all games on Saturday. Please no soda or ca ndy.

Luke Gane / KISS FM to donate $10,000

If you read below, the Anaheim Ducks will donate $10,000.00 to CHOC Hospital if more that 100,000 people click onto this video on the KIIS FM web site. Please take a minute and check it out. It will help a good cause.

Last night Tomoko told me that this is the week where it should become clear if Luke's body is accepting or rejecting the bone marrow transplant.

Luke is doing good. He's out of it from meds, but his spirits are good and I'm sure that today will be a fun one for him.

Tomoko will be there all day and she'll take pics if cool stuff is going on in Luke's room. We'll post those this evening if there are any.

Jr. Midget Gold Fundraiser Dinner

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that Jr. Midget Gold team is having a dinner fundraiser at the field this Thursday for Luke Gane. It will be Taco-in-a-Bag night. The team mom and I are getting everything together for this dinner. The dinner will include: Taco-in-a-Bag, Drink, Watermelon and cookie for $5.00. We are also going to have Chili Billies and other snacks available. It's a great chance for those who want to support Luke and can't make it to Sunday's fundraiser.

Having gone through Cancer this year, I can tell you that it is very expensive and emotionally draining. I was very fortunate to have a good insurance and the support of family and friends. Even though insurance covers a portion of it, there's a deductible to meet for both treatment and medicine. For those who don't know or having found them self in this situation, with medicine, once you reach a cap, you have to pay the next portion on your own until you meet a certain cap again before the insurance company will cover again. Cancer medicine is very expensive.

This is the life of a teenager - a young man that is fighting this dreadful disease. He deserves a chance to live and his parents deserve a chance to have him there to enjoy with him. I don't personally know him but I'm cheering for him. I know I would want the support and love of my child's team and co-teams if such a tragedy would occur to any of my kids. Times are hard but we should all remind ourselves how lucky we are to have healthy children. As parents, our children are our number one priority and our number one worry. Luke has been in the hospital for a while now so emotionally, I know that his family is going through a lot. A simple gesture as HB Pop Warner has decided to do is going to be a load off their mind and a big financial help. If you are unable to financially support, please keep him and his family in your prayers. My faith and the fact that so many people were praying for my recovery made me stronger through all the chemo. It also gave me strength during the times that I wanted to give up.

Whatever we can do as a team and a football community is going to be appreciated. So please keep this Thursday in mind.

Cheerleaders and Football Players Fundraising Notes from the Coach

Hello Cheer and Football Parents,

I wanted to share some wonderful news with you, and touch base regarding our team's financial status, thus far. We had a successful Opening Day and with sponsors, dinner nights, the Applebee fundraiser and other fundraising events, so far, we will be able to have a very nice team banquet at the end of the season.

We still have a couple of dinner nights, a couple more sponsor checks coming in, and currently have a fundraiser selling Pizza Coupons for Bella Roma [9101 Atlanta Avenue, Huntington Beach].

It is my hope we can have an incredible season end banquet, similar to last year that the boys and girls will enjoy after a long season’s worth of hard work. It is also my hope that we will again be able to sponsor at least one football player and one cheerleader for 2009 HB Pop Warner Football Season.

For those of you who don’t know, league rules state that if football and/or cheer plan to travel, they are able to fundraise separately after the $100 per child is raised jointly. We have met this $100 per child minimum (and then some!). Since Cheer was so successful last year, they are guaranteed to be invited back to Las Vegas Cheer Nationals. Similarly, football is hoping to travel to San Diego for a post season game.

Since cheer and football are pursuing travel interests with different cheer and football needs and desires for each of their teams, we will each be doing seperate fundraising from this point forward.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts in working together for our cheerleaders and football players benefit. I am very happy with the progress so far – and we are just getting started. This is proving to be an awesome season. Keep up all the good work everyone!

Edison Varsity Football Player Fundraiser - Luke Gain Fund Raiser HB

A fundraiser for an Edison Varsity Football player, Luke Gane, who has undergone a bone-marrow transplant and is fighting aplastic anemia. The Lazy Dog Café has generously offered to donate 50% of your dining bill to the Gane Family. The fundraiser is being held next Sunday (the 14th).

The money raised will go to the family to help with their costly medical expenses. This is an easy, yummy opportunity to do something good for a former Pop Warner turned Varsity Player. This is an easy way to show our Huntington Beach/Pop Warner community support !!

This was by far the largest turn out on opening day in recent memory. Many of the HB Pop Warner teams won their scrimmages and gained confidence heading into the season. Hi,

My name is Bianca Chandler and I am a cheerleader for HB Pop Warner in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC). This is my story of going to Las Vegas to compete in National Cheer Championships.

We competed in two different cheerleading events in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The first was nationals for the whole team and we got second place.

There were nine other cheerleading teams in our division

The other teams wore these colors the most: red & blue.

The second cheerleading competion was stunt group competiton.

There were two other teams for a total of Three cheerleading teams.

The other teams wore these colors most: red yellow &white

The cheerleading champions were: the HB Pee Wee Chargers.

When we won the cheer championships in Las Vegas we were given a trophy and a JAMz nationals cheer jacket.

I cannot wait until next year. HB Cheer is the best activity I have ever done!!

First off, we all just want to say how awesome the girls did this weekend at the long beach pyramid.

We couldn't be more proud of our Huntington Beach Charger Girls. Jamz sent the final score sheets from our competition on Sunday.

Our HB Cheer team's overall score was 85.8, and the highest score out of ALL the pop warner teams, every level included, was an 87.4.

Our team has the 2nd highest score out of the entire Pop Warner Competition!! We were less than two points away from winning the Overall High Score Prize.

GOOD JOB AND CONGRATS HB Cheer GIRLS, WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

New Practice Schedule for Next Week

The current plan is for the girls to practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. This will be a long week for the girls but with losing a week of practice right before the big competition it will be necessary to pull it all together.
